Repetitive Head Injury- How To Deal With It?

Any kind of traumatic head injury can be lethal enough to take your life or send you to the state of coma. Say, repetitive head injury, for instance, can damage some areas of your brain and at times it can be life threatening too.

Common causes of traumatic head injury in grown up people are occupational accidents, road accidents, assaults, falls and hits. However falls during play is the most common cause of head injury in children. So, one must be very cautious with children's head injury.

Similarly, infant head injury needs proper care and medical attention. If your child suffers from a traumatic head injury due to an accident, fall or any other incident take him or her to a doctor for immediate diagnosis and treatment. Never neglect if your child complains of dizziness or other some uncommon symptoms after head injury.

The head trauma symptoms that develop in children are disturbance of vision, loss of memory, retarded growth, sunken eyes, personality change and aggressiveness, to name a few.

Pediatric head injury often shows late symptoms especially when children are at the growing stage. There are many instances wherein children suffered from low mental growth later due to unattended head injury. Such unattended traumatic head injuries can spoil the future of a child.

When we talk of head injury it may include injuries to both brain and other parts of your skull. The head injuries may be open or closed. A closed head trauma is one in which your skull remains intact or is not broken. But the internal injury may be very fatal and doctors might need to carry surgery to bring out the clotted blood.

If your head injury is repetitive it can be life threatening. If you happen to work in places where you are susceptible to repetitive head injuries you must learn about first aid treatment on head trauma. Even head trauma and narcotic use too are closely related. People addicted to drugs and narcotics often suffer from repetitive head injuries.

The common symptoms of grave head injuries or insistent injuries are- feeling of unconsciousness, disturbance of normal vision, sudden transition to coma, showing some kind of confusions, drowsiness, seizures, vomiting, deterioration of mental status and all. Head trauma causing strabismus (eye balls point to different directions) is also a common phenomenon of repetitive injuries.

So, the first line of head injury treatment is nothing but emergency medical aid which would ease the trauma of patient and increase the possible chance of remaining alive till proper medical help is at hand. In case of minor injuries which cause some amount of swelling use of ice pack for 20-30 minutes would provide much relieve.

In case of bleeding try to stop the bleeding dabbing some soft cloth moistened with water, and never panic in front of the patient.

Take the patient as early as possible to nearby emergency medical help. Narrate the doctor if it is a case of repetitive head injury. This would help them diagnose the condition properly and administer medications based on previous injury history.
